Book Recommendation: Getting Things Done
I read Getting Things Done (GTD) by David Allen many years ago as part of my personal development journey. One of the biggest takeaways for me, a very detailed-oriented person was getting everything out of my head into actionable items. Two quotes from David Allen capture the significance of the book to me.
- “If it’s on your mind, get it out of your mind. Write it down…Then takes what’s on your mind and get things done.”
- “Use your mind to think about things, rather than think of them. You want to add value as you think about projects and people, not simply reminding yourself they exist.”
By creating space and organizing tasks and projects, I better understand my next move. Understanding and applying the lessons learned as part of GTD enabled me to be a successful project manager and leader. I highly recommend reading the book and learning how to use the principles.
